So today I went out to what used to be a local hot spot,  "The Cat walk".  It was a long seawall just outside of Gulfport harbor, about 12 inches wide and crumbled in certain spots from all the hurricanes.  Over the years the gaps were filled with 2x6's and scrap metal by local fisherman in order to make their way to the end.  This place was an amazing spot to catch big trout and reds.  It was not uncommon for schools of huge jacks to make there way through, smashing the schools of pogies and mullet that took shelter.  Recently the city demolished the seawall and replaced it with a long rock jetty.  I have not fished since and have been wondering if all the construction and disturbance has interrupted the amazing fishing the Cat Walk had to offer.  While one trip out is not enough to say for sure, I believe its going to take sometime to grow to what it used to be.  I ended up catching one small white trout.  I saw a small school of Spanish Mackerel move through as well, unfortunately they were to quick to throw at.  I'll be back a few more times before I decide to take it off my list of go to spots.  Tight lines my friends!
